On July 23, Sarah Aristidou performs Berio’s Recital I for Cathy in a late-night concert with Ensemble Intercontemporain and Pierre Bleuse. Originally composed to showcase Berberian’s extraordinary vocal and dramatic abilities, this virtuosic performance by Sarah Aristidou promises to be a memorable night.

Clarinettist Martin Fröst joins BBC Symphony Orchestra on 31 July to perform two Concertos for Clarinet, by Copland and Shaw, under the direction of Joshua Weilerstein.

Randall Goosby makes his BBC Proms debut on 23 July, joining Orchestre National de France, under the baton of Cristian Măcelaru. Goosby performs Joseph Bologne’s graceful Violin Concerto and Chausson’s Poème.

Joe Hisaishi makes his debut this year on 14 August alongside Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of which he is the Composer-In-Association. He conducts the UK premiere of his own work, The End of the World for Vocalists and Orchestra, in the first half. Hisaishi then conducts Steve Reich’s Desert Music.

Pekka Kuusisto returns to the festival on 31 August with a programme that reflects on human injustice. Joined by Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and vocalist Katarina Barruk, they perform works by Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Hannah Kendall, Caroline Shaw, Tippett and Shostakovich, as well as Barruk’s own songs in the Sábmie language.

Hannu Lintu makes his Proms debut on 4 August, bringing together the vast forces of BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Chorus, Constanza Chorus, Natalya Romaniw, Jennifer Johnston, Russell Thomas and James Newby for a programme of Boulez’s Rituel in Memoriam Bruno Maderna and Mahler’s Das Klagende Lied.

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra returns to the BBC Proms with their Artistic Partner, Klaus Mäkelä, for two performances on 23 and 24 August. The varied programmes include Mahler’s Symphony No.5, Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.1 with Janine Jansen, and Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra.

Riccardo Minasi returns to the Proms on 27 August to conduct Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. The performance is a concert version of this summer’s Glyndebourne Festival Opera production with young Swedish soprano Johanna Wallroth making a welcome return to the BBC Proms festival as Susanna, alongside Louise Alder, Adéle Charvet, Michael Nagl, Huw Montague Rendall, Alessandro Corbelli and the Glyndebourne Chorus.

Sakari Oramo opens the 2025 BBC Proms with a programme that includes Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, with star soloist Lisa Batiashvili, and a world premiere by Errollyn Wallen, entitled The Elements. Together with BBC Symphony Orchestra, of which he is the Chief Conductor, he makes two further appearances at the Proms, each time bringing a dynamic programme. On 24 July, Oramo conducts Augustin Hadelich in Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, as well as Anthony Davis’ Tales (Tails) of the Signifying Monkey and Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks. For his final appearance in this year’s festival, Oramo champions British music, with Ruth Gipps’ Death on the Pale Horse and Arthur Bliss’s cantata The Beatitudes. The programme also features rising star Lukas Sternath playing Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto.

Edwin Outwater makes a return to the BBC Proms on 4 September in his second year as Principal Guest Conductor and Curator of the BBC Concert Orchestra, with a program celebrating the film scores of classic thrillers. From the shrieking strings of Psycho to the brooding jazz-club sleaze of Taxi Driver, Herrmann’s music is the soundtrack to the greats of Hollywood’s Golden Age. This programme is rich with suspense and drama, and also includes music by Herrmann’s celebrated Hollywood colleagues. The concert will be broadcast on BBC 4 and BBC iPlayer.

Josep Pons returns to this year’s Proms on 8 August alongside BBC Symphony Orchestra. The concert opens with Dukas’ La Péri followed by Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with pianist Beatrice Rana. In the second half, Pons conducts Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin.

Philharmonia Orchestra and Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali return to this year’s Proms on 20 August. The concert opens with Gabriela Ortiz’s Antrópolis followed by Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.2 with star soloist Bruce Liu. Rouvali then conducts Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (arranged by Ravel) in the second half.

On 6 September Golda Schultz once again returns to the BBC Proms for a concert with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. The programme features works by Korngold, Gershwin, Weil, Bernstein and Stravinsky and is conducted by Robin Ticciati.

On 22 July, Sean Shibe joins BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall for the world premiere of Mark Simpson’s electric guitar concerto Zebra.
Shibe can also be seen appearing with friends at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music on 27 July, for a concert of works including a new commission by Tyshawn Sorey, Cassandra Miller’s Bel Canto and Boulez’s Le Marteau sans maître.

Dalia Stasevska, Principal Guest Conductor of BBC Symphony Orchestra, returns to the festival for two concerts – on 9 August with the National Youth Orchestra and an exciting programme of works by John Williams, Caroline Shaw and Holst; and on 22 August with BBC Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Thomas de Hartmann’s visionary Violin Concerto alongside violinist Joshua Bell, and Górecki’s haunting Symphony No.3.

On 5 August, Nil Venditti returns to the Proms, conducting BBC National Orchestra of Wales alongside violinist Liya Petrova, in her Proms debut, performing Williams’ The Lark Ascending. Furthermore, Venditti will perform with BBC singers for a concert including works by Britten, Elgar and the world premiere of a commission by John Rutter.

The Hallé Orchestra’s Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor, Kahchun Wong, makes his BBC Proms debut on 2 August with Mahler’s Symphony No.2. They are joined by soprano soloist Mari Eriksmoen, as well as the Hallé Choir and Hallé Youth Choir.
