The result of several years of research into what a historically documented performance of Wagner’s operas, Siegfried, performed by the musicians of Concerto Köln and the Dresden Festival Orchestra under the direction of Kent Nagano, is premiered in Prague on 1 April. The premiere is followed by performances at the Philharmonie de Paris on 4 April, Kölner Philharmonie on 10 April, Dresden Music Festival on 14 June, and in Lucerne on 12 September. Starting in 2017, this interdisciplinary artistic and scientific research project allowed the re-examination of a widely studied work, Wagner’s Ring, in the most comprehensive way possible, offering for the first time, a historically informed reading.
