14/3/2025
Renowned pianist Angela Hewitt embarks on an extensive tour across Canada and the United States during March and April, showcasing varied programmes in a series of highly anticipated performances.
The tour commences in Ottawa on March 19 and 20, at the Southam Hall with the NAC Orchestra, where Hewitt performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.21, under the baton of Alexander Shelley. Hewitt also appears with Toronto Symphony Orchestra later in the month, presenting the same work, conducted by Marta Gardolińska on 26, 27 and 29 March at Roy Thomson Hall, with a final performance on 30 March at George Weston Recital Hall.
April sees Hewitt travel to the West Coast of Canada for two engagements: on 4 April with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart’s breathtaking Piano Concerto No.15, conducted by Valentina Peleggi, shortly followed by two concerts on 12 and 13 April, where she play-directs Victoria Symphony Orchestra in a Mozart-filled programme, including Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.21 in and Piano Concerto No.24.
Amongst the orchestral concerts which are part of her ongoing ‘Mozart Odyssey’ project, audiences in Canada and the US can also watch Hewitt in recital over the next two months, with performances in Kingston, Duluth, Edmonton and Regina, where she celebrates 50 years of performing Bach’s Goldberg Variations.
Hewitt concludes her tour on April 20 in Portland, Oregon, featuring a diverse program featuring works by Handel, Bach, Haydn, and Brahms at the Newmark Theatre, as part of Portland Piano International’s recital series.
