On 27 February, Nicolas Altstaedt performs the UK premiere of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Cello Concerto No.2 at London’s Royal Festival Hall alongside Paavo Järvi and Philharmonia Orchestra. Written for Altstaedt, the concerto is inspired by a poem by Federico García Lorca. Also featured in the programme are Igor Stravinski’s much beloved ballet suites Petrushka and Firebird (1919 version).
