

Nil Venditti and Leia Zhu on RPS shortlist

18-year-old violinist Leia Zhu has been nominated for an RPS award in the Young Artist category. Since her début at age 4, Leia has blossomed into a formidable talent and has performed as a soloist withLondon Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, Oxford Philharmonic, Royal Northern Sinfonia, and at the BBC Proms. This past year has seen the recording of Leia’s first two albums with Vienna Radio Orchestra and Armenian Philharmonic, as well as the publication of her personal memoir Bows, Strings and Dreams.
Congratulations to Nil Venditti on her nomination in the Conductor category. This recognition honours her work with UK orchestras last season, the culmination of which was her debut with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at BBC Proms 2024.
The RPS Awards are the highest recognition for live music-making in the UK and are amongst the most highly prized of any in the industry. From nearly 400 nominations in 13 categories, the 65 independent, expert jurors chose this year’s shortlisted nominations.
The 2025 RPS Awards will take place for the first time in Birmingham, at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on 6 March 2025. The event will be available to watch on the RPS website from 17 March. In addition, BBC Radio 3 will present a special broadcast featuring music of the winners and nominees on 7 March.
