HarrisonParrott takes 30 concerts to Japan this December

Lionel Bringuier conducts two concerts in Japan this December. The first concert takes place on 1 December, with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and piano soloist Mikhail Pletnev presenting a programme of Alexey Shor’s Suite for Piano and Orchestra No.2 and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Bringuier conducts the orchestra again on 4 December, but this time with pianist Behzod Abduraimov performing Alexey Shor’s Piano Concerto No.1. Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini rounds off the programme. Both concerts take place at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.
Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and Artistic Director Paavo Järvi, perform eight concerts across Japan in a mammoth tour this December. The Orchestra is joined throughout the tour by renowned soloists, pianist Rafał Blechacz, and violinist Hilary Hahn. The concert programme includes Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni, Piano Concerto, Mozart Symphony No.41, Schubert’s Overture for Orchestra, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, Schubert’s Symphony No.7, and Mozart’s Symphony No.31. They perform at world renowned venues throughout the tour including Kumamoto Prefectural Theater, Yokohama’s Minato Mirai Hall, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Bunkyo Civic Center, Muse Tokorozawa, Nishinomiya’s Hyogo Performing Arts Center and Ōita’s Iichiko Culture Center. Bach Collegium Japan, Masaaki Suzuki and Masato Suzuki perform five concerts in Japan this December. On 6 December, they present a special concert commemorating the 200th anniversary of Bruckner’s birth by performing his Psalm 112 and Psalm 114, alongside Brahms’ 11 Chorale Preludes, Op.122, Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele Op.122, No.5O wie selig seid ihr doch, ihr Frommen Op.122, No.6, Es ist ein Ros’ entsprungen Op. 122, No.8, and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall with Masato Suzuki playing the organ. Masaaki Suzuki performs an organ Christmas concert with works from J.S. Bach, including Pastorella, Duett Herr, dein Mitleid (From Christmas Oratorio Part III) and Toccata und Fuge, amongst others, on 8 December at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall. Heading south to Hiroshima, Masato Suzuki creates a Baroque Project with Bach Collegium Japan: ‘Welcome to the Bach Family Music Room’ at Higashi Hiroshima Arts & Culture Hall Kurara on 15 December, featuring a selection of work by C.P.E and J.S. Bach. At Karuizawa Ohga Hall, Masato Suzuki and Bach Collegium Japan perform Handel’s Messiah on 21 December, followed by a second performance of the same work at Suntory Hall on 24 December.
HarrisonParrott Arts Partnerships & Tours is delighted to take Camerata Bern on its first tour of Japan. Alongside Artistic Partner Patricia Kopatchinskaja, they perform four concerts in three cities, with three different programmes. From 7 December, the tour takes them to Tokyo’s Toppan Hall where they perform Schubert’s Death and the Maiden and Der Tod und das Mädchen, Gesualdo’s Moro, lasso, al mio duolo, Kurtág’s Ligatura-Message to Frances-Marie, and Ruhelos from Kafka-Fragmente for Solo Violin Op.24. Heading to Saitama Art Theatre on 8 December, they perform Die Wut (The Rage), written by PatKop, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Schubert’s Death and the Maiden. At Toppan Hall on 9 December, Camerata Bern presents a selection of compositions written especially for them alongside complimentary traditional works. Kyoto is their final destination on this tour, with a concert at Kyoto’s Concert Hall on 11 December. On 10 December, they will have a unique open session with Noh actor Kotaro Kawamura at Kawamura Noh Theatre in Kyoto, where they experiment with Japanese-traditional Noh theatre.
On 7 December, violinist Ava Bahari makes her Japanese debut in two concerts with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jonathan Nott. Bahari plays Schoenberg’s Violin Concerto at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, followed by Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall on 8 December.
Conductor Tomáš Netopil heads to Tokyo to conduct four performances of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at New National Theatre Tokyo. Performances run from 10 — 15 December.
Tenor Christopher Ventris jumps in to sing in Liszt’s Eine Faust-Symphonie with NHK Symphony Orchestra on 13 and 14 December at NHK Hall, conducted by Fabio Luisi.
