Maria Kokareva steps into the role of Juliette in Roméo et Juliette for the first time at the State Opera Unter den Linden on 13 November, joining the Mariame Clément production led by Stefano Montanari on short notice.
Recognized for her impressive vocal colour and musical nuance, Kokareva is gaining recognition across the international opera scene. This season, her standout debuts include Ismene in Il Mitridate at both Teatro alla Scala and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Les Talens Lyriques, conducted by Christophe Rousset.
As a valued member of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden’s Opera Studio, her Berlin season includes an array of exciting roles: she debuts as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in Jürgen Flimm’s iconic production, under Finnegan Downie Dear, as Die Stimme des Falken in Die Frau ohne Schatten with Constantin Trinks, and Frasquita in Carmen conducted by Valentin Uryupin. Later this season, Kokareva joins Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new Parsifal production under Philippe Jordan, sing Erste Elfe in Kornél Mundruczó’s Rusalka with Tomáš Hanus, and appear as Clothilde in Norma, directed by Vasily Barkhatov and conducted by Francesco Lanzilotta.
