Described by his teacher, Prof. Dora Schwarzberg, as a ​“charismatic violinist of rare and exceptional talent with a maturity beyond his years”, 17-year-old Leonhard Baumgartner attracted enormous attention this year by winning two important competitions. In August, Leonhard won the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition, making his debut with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra under the baton of Eivind Aadland, followed by a First Prize, Grand Prix and Audience Award at this year’s Osaka International Music Competition.

In the next months, Leonhard will appear with orchestras such as Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Wiener Kammerorchester, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic, amongst others. He has recorded Mozart’s recently rediscovered Ganz Kleine Nachtmusik for Deutsche Grammophon and Stage+ with Margarita Pochebut, Svenja Dose and Oscar Jockel.
