Recognised by her “beautiful stage presence, a velvety timbre with clear nuance and impeccable diction”, French mezzo-soprano Marine Chagnon is a current member of the Paris Opera where she has impressed as Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Dorothée (Cendrillon), and a Page (Rigoletto). This season, Chagnon makes her return to Paris as Cicinella in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Les Brigands under Stefano Montanari, as Giovanna in Rigoletto under Domingo Hindoyan, Javotte in Manon under Pierre Dumoussaud and as Thibault in Don Carlos led by Simone Young. Adaptable to diverse musical genres, Chagnon has portrayed roles from early music to contemporary opera, making her first stage appearance as Euridice in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at Opéra de Dijon.
A Grand Finals Winner of the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, American mezzo-soprano Anne Marie Stanley has made a series of impressive debuts in recent seasons, garnering attention for her “rich, deep, powerful voice and superlative diction”. Her unique instrument has allowed her to embrace a broad repertoire of roles across the bel canto, classical and contemporary styles, such as Adalgisa in Bellini’s Norma at Palm Beach Opera, Lucretia in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House, and both Léonor in Donizetti’s La favorite and Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Anne Marie most recently joined the Royal Opera House on tour to Japan, singing Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto under Sir Antonio Pappano and the current season sees her debut as Oktavian in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier at Staatsoper Hannover conducted by Stephan Zilias.
