Oslo Philharmonic appear at two prestigious European festivals with Artistic Director Klaus Mäkelä this September.
On 21 August, the orchestra is joined by violinist Lisa Batiashvili, who returns to Salzburg Festival to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, alongside Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5. Then on 1 September, the orchestra heads to Berliner Festspiele where they present a programme featuring Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus, Saariaho’s Vista and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5.
Klaus Mäkelä conducts Lucerne Festival Orchestra on 17 August for a programme of Mendelssohn, Grieg and Schumann.
He returns to the Festival on 5 September with Orchestre de Paris to conduct Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with Lisa Batiashvili.
HarrisonParrott Arts Partnerships & Tours is delighted to take London Philharmonic Orchestra on a six-concert tour of Japan through September. Playing in Hamamatsu Act City Concert Hall on 6 September, with a Beethoven double-bill featuring Piano Concerto No.5 and Symphony No.3 Eroica, and they perform the symphony again at Nagoya’s Aichi Prefectural Art Theater Concert Hall on 7 September. The orchestra play Mahler Symphony No.5 at Festival Hall Osaka on 8 September and finally, Suntory Hall on 10, 11 and 12 September. They are joined by pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii and conductor Robin Ticciati, with a Beethoven and Mahler-focused programme.
Camerata RCO plays at the Dolomiti festival in Italy on 8 September, performing musical works by Mozart. This year, the natural hollow of Prà Castròn di Flavona is hosting Dawn in the Dolomites, where numerous music lovers will be watching the sunset and mountain tops with the musical performance from the musicians of Camerata RCO.
On 10 September, Wiener Philharmoniker and conductor Christian Thielemann, open the Ghent Festival in Belgium.
In this concert, celebrating the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner’s birth, the orchestra performs Bruckner’s Symphony No.1 at Saint Bavo’s Cathedral. The symphony contains all the elements that make Bruckner so unique and loved: the layered structure, the heavenly melodies, the overwhelming climaxes, and his unique talent for making us forget time and transport us to another dimension.
Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra heads to Chengdu, the capital of China’s Sichuan province, for a concert on 14 September under the baton of Daniel Harding, with pianist Anna Fedorova.
This concert, which takes place at Chengdu Symphony Concert Hall, is part of the 30th‘Autumn in Chengdu’ International Music Season. The programme features Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Bruckner’s Symphony No.9.
