Nine HarrisonParrott and Polyarts artists attend Tanglewood Festival
Ross Jamie Collins has been announced as a 2024 Conducting Fellow at Tanglewood Music Center. As a fellow, Ross Jamie Collins is set to conduct the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra frequently over the summer, alongside conductors including Andris Nelsons, Dima Slobodeniouk, Stefan Asbury, Alan Gilbert and Hannu Lintu, who first conducts the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra on 19 August in a performance of Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5.
Edwin Outwater conducts two concerts with the Boston Pops this Tanglewood season, beginning with Phish frontman Trey Anastasio on 29 June. Edwin then returns to the festival on 23 July, conducting acclaimed musician Beck.
Carlos Simon, incoming Composer Chair at the Boston Symphony, has two works being performed at Tanglewood this season, both His piece Warmth from Other Suns is featured on 13 July — conducted by Andris Nelsons alongside works by Beethoven and Ellington — and Fate Now Conquers is played on 18 August, in a programme also featuring Schumann and Beethoven conducted by Earl Lee.
Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs Khachaturian’s Piano Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.6 with Boston Symphony Orchestra on 27 July.
Dalia Stasevska and violinist Leila Josefowicz reunite to perform with Boston Symphony Orchestra at the Tanglewood Festival on 10 August. The programme features Sibelius’ Canzonetta and Symphony No.5, as well as Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto.
Samy Rachid makes his conducting debut with Boston Symphony Orchestra on 16 August for a programme of Svetlanov’s Dawn in the Field, Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.1 with Midori, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.5.
Hannu Lintu’s second performance on 25 August is with Boston Symphony Orchestra in a programme of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, with Ambur Braid who makes her Tanglewood debut.
