This month, Stefan Asbury and the Grossman Ensemble’s recently published CD Terpsichore’s Box of Dreams is named ​‘Recording of the Month’ by BBC Music Magazine. Released on Nimbus Alliance, the disc features a selection of pieces by Augusta Read Thomas of various instrumental constellations – from solos and duets to larger chamber pieces, including Carnival – a concerto for bassoon and wind ensemble of 26 players. With BBC describing the album as a ​“musical treasure trove, resplendent in its sense of vitality, beauty and imaginative possibility”, Asbury’s contribution to the album is yet another feather in the cap, adding to his renown for being one of the leading interpreters of contemporary music.
