Oslo Philharmonic embarks on a 10-day tour, travelling to Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw (3 June), Philharmonie de Paris (4 June), Konzerthaus Vienna (6 and 7 June), and Schlossfestspiele Ludwigsburg (9 June).
Conducted by their Chief Conductor Klaus Mäkelä and joined by violin soloist Daniel Lozakovich, they perform a Brahms programme featuring his Concerto for Violin and Cello (Double Concerto) – featuring Klaus on the cello for the double concerto at all four venues, and Symphony No.1.
Konzerthaus Vienna will host a second concert on 7 June, during which the orchestra performs Von Weber’s Overture from Oberon, Sibelius’ Tapiola, and Zemlinsky’s Die Seejungfrau.
Wiener Philharmoniker travels to Spain for a three-concert tour across the country with conductor Lorenzo Viotti performing Rimski-Korsakov’s Spanish Capriccio, Rachmaninov’s Die Toteninsel, and Dvořák’s Symphony No.7.
The first stop of the tour begins in Northern Spain between the Cantabrian Mountains and the Bay of Biscay at Auditorium and Congress Centre Principe Felipe in Oviedo on 22 June. On 23 June, they head south to the magical Andalusia region for their second concert at Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada. The third concert performance is in Seville at Teatro de la Maestranza on the banks of the Guadalquivir river on 24 June.
From 29 – 30 June, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and Artistic Director Pekka Kuusisto head to London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall to perform DSCH, where they boldly push the boundaries of the concert format. Working with a team of collaborators from the worlds of stage direction, lighting design, set design, costume, and musical arrangement, DSCH is a truly unique concert-theatre experience.
