Arts Partnerships & Tours take five orchestras to four festivals this June
Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra and their Artistic Director István Várdai return to Turkey and join forces with the acclaimed Turkish pianist Gülsin Onay for concerts at Istanbul International Music Festival (6 June) and the opening concert of Izmir Festival (7 June) which celebrate 2024 Turkey-Hungary Culture Year.
Oslo Philharmonic, along with their Chief Conductor Klaus Mäkelä and violin soloist Daniel Lozakovich, head to Ludwigsburg Festival in Germany. The concert takes place on 9 June in the Forum am Schlosspark, as part of the festival’s Scandinavian classical stars series. The concert features an all-Brahms programme featuring his Concerto for Violin and Cello (Double Concerto) – featuring Klaus on the cello, and Symphony No.1.
On 12 June, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra perform in the opening concert at Les Flâneries Musicales de Reims. The concert takes place at Basilique Saint-Remi. The orchestra, conducted by Andrew Manze and joined by pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, present Ravel’s Concerto in G major and Elgar’s Enigma Variations.
Two orchestras perform at this year’s Granada Festival. As part of their tour of Spain, Wiener Philharmoniker, conducted by Lorenzo Viotti, play Rimsky-Korsakov’s Spanish Capriccio, Rachmaninov’s The Island of the Dead, and Dvořák’s Symphony No.7 on 23 June. Orchestre de Paris perform two concerts at the Festival on 29 and 30 June. In the first concert, they are joined by their Music Director Klaus Mäkelä and soprano Christiane Karg, performing Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night, 1943 version) and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No.4. The second concert features a programme including Stravinsky’s Petruchka (Ballet, 1947 version) with piano soloist Jean Baptiste Doulcet, Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, and Mozart’s Symphony No.31.
