RICHARD DUBUGNON’S PANEM & CIRCENSES PREMIERES WITH ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
23/5/2024
Richard Dubugnon’s PANEM & CIRCENSES premieres on 23 May with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jean-Luc Tingaud at Cadogan Hall. Commissioned by the famous Poilâne bakery in Paris, this 13-minute work imagines the various stages of making bread. Both expressive and playful, it is a celebration of the skill of making bread and delicious pastries by the world-famous, and almost one-century-old bakery, Poilâne. The work employs the same instrumentation as Poulenc’s Les biches, which also appears in the programme alongside Ravel’s Mother Goose and Piano Concerto in G Major.
