Two HarrisonParrott Artists take part in the Cellissimo Festival 2024, a new international cello Festival on the edge of Europe

Cellist Alban Gerhardt performs at Cellissimo Festival in Galway for three concerts.

On 18 May, Gerhardt performs Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.2 with National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland under the baton of Gavin Maloney. On 20 May, he joins pianist Hugh Tinney for a recital of Debussy, Prokofiev and Beethoven’s Sonatas. Gerhardt wraps up his time with Cellissimo with a solo recital on 21 May, playing a new work by Garth Knox and Bach’s Suite No.2 for Cello Solo.

Eimear Noone conducts National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland on 22 May, her hometown debut performance after two decades in music.

The performance focuses on works by Irish composers or featured in Irish film and media, including Noone’s own compositions Malach, Angel Messenger (from World of WarCraft) the First Movement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto featured in the 2007 feature film August Rush, excerpts from Noone’s original show Daughters of the Pirate Queen, and more. She is joined by fellow Galway native, solo cellist Adrian Mantuu.
