Javier De Frutos has been nominated for the Best Short Dance Film at the National Dance Awards with his film Whoever You Are, an award-winning cinematic adaptation of Walt Whitman’s seminal poem, ​‘Whoever You Are Holding Me Now In Hand’, directed by Javier De Frutos and produced by Whoever You Are Productions. It has won over 29 international awards and nominations and received its European Premiere at Rencontres Internationales Paris/​Berlin at Les Beaux Arts in May 2022, as well as its US premiere at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood in September 2022.

The National Dance Awards have been organised by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle in each year of this Millennium to celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain’s thriving dance culture. They are presented by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle, which brings together over 60 dance writers and critics. They are the only awards given by the body of professional dance critics in the UK.”

Winners will be announced on 3 June at the Coronet Theatre.
