HarrisonParrott is pleased to announce that acclaimed cellist Astrig Siranossian has joined our roster for global management.
Astrig is a laureate of the International Penderecki Competition, winning First Prize and multiple Special Prizes. Her playing is described with words like “a breathtaking timbre” and “an intensity and gravitas mixed with a luminous joy”.
She frequently collaborates with eminent conductors such as Lahav Shani, François-Xavier Roth, Nabil Shehata and Myung-Whun Chung and performs alongside notable artists including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich, Emmanuel Pahud and Yo-Yo Ma. Her performances have graced major concert halls like the Paris Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Vienna Musikverein, Walt Disney Hall, and Berlin Philharmonie.
Since 2015, Astrig has served as the artistic director of Musicades in Romans sur Isère, a festival that blends music with other arts. She founded ‘Spidak Sevane’ in 2019 to support children in Lebanon and Armenia through music. Recently, she took on the role of artistic director at the Adèle Clément Cello Festival and will direct the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Festival starting in 2024.
Her extensive discography features the innovative Duo-Solo album (2022), which melds her Armenian heritage with compositions by Bach, Kodály, and Ligeti, reflecting her roots in unique performances. Other notable recordings include Saint-Saëns’ “First Cello Concerto” (2021), Khachaturian’s Cello Concerto, Penderecki’s Cello Concerto No.2 and Dear Mademoiselle (2020), a tribute to Nadia Boulanger — all acclaimed internationally. She is set to release a new recording of the Elgar concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of François-Xavier Roth.
Astrig Siranossian was born into a family of musicians. After gaining a place at the Lyon Regional Conservatoire at age 8, she pursued her studies at the Lyon National Conservatoire, graduating at the age of eighteen with the highest distinction. She completed her musical education at the Hochschüle für Musik in Basel, studying under Ivan Monighetti, obtaining her Concert Master’s and Soloist Master’s with distinction.
Astrig performs on a 1676 Francesco Ruggieri cello, generously loaned by the Boubo Music Foundation, and on a 1756 Gennaro Gagliano cello which previously belonged to Sir John Barbirolli.
