Celebrated mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston, in high demand across the finest concert halls for her interpretation of the works of Mahler, Wagner, Britten, Beethoven, Schumann and Elgar among others, joins VOICE at HarrisonParrott for General Management. Awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Singer Award in 2021, Jennifer is recognised for her “commitment and emotional force” to both performance and education.
This season Johnston appears with the world’s most prestigious orchestras in Amsterdam, Vienna, Bucharest, Munich, Hamburg, Oslo, and London, under conductors such as Klaus Mäkelä, Kirill Petrenko, Semyon Bychkov, Sakari Oramo, and Vasily Petrenko. On the operatic stage, a close collaboration with Bayerische Staatsoper has given rise to over 80 performances on stage in Munich with Jennifer’s repertoire encompassing Mrs Sedley (Peter Grimes), Mrs Grose (The Turn of the Screw), Juno (Semele), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Brigitte (Die tote Stadt), Second Norn (Götterdämmerung), Roßweise (Die Walküre), Floßhilde (Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung), Hedwige (Guillaume Tell) and La Ciesca (Gianni Schicci).
A former BBC New Generation Artist, and a graduate of Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music, Johnston has appeared extensively both in recital and on disc.
