Looking back at 2023 highlights from HP Dance
Through October and November, Maria Seletskaja conducted Jerome Robbins at Paris Opera Ballet — a fellow traveller of George Balanchine and choreographer of West Side Story. She also and completed a short run of Sleeping Beauty at Staatsballet Berlin.
In October, Kristen McNally reimagined an adaptation of Sam Steiner’s novel, The Limit, with director Ed Madden at the Royal Opera House.
William Bracewell opened Wayne McGregor’s The Dante Project with the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House, a three‑act ballet inspired by the alternately chilling and sunlit landscapes of the Divine Comedy.
2023 ended with the Nutcracker season, where Gavriel Heine conducted The Nutcracker for Arizona Ballet over Christmas, and each of our 6 dancers had dates over the Holidays at the Royal Opera House, Coliseum, in Munich and Berlin.
2023 ended with the Nutcracker season, where Gavriel Heine conducted The Nutcracker for New York City Ballet, David Briskin for National Ballet of Canada where Genevieve Leclair also enjoyed dates. Jonny Lo bucked the trend by conducting Swan Lake with Australian Ballet over Christmas, and each of our six dancers had dates over the Holidays at the Royal Opera House, Coliseum, in Munich and Berlin. Lauren Cuthbertson, William Bracewell, Ksenia Ovsyanick, Dorothée Gilbert, Joseph Sissens and Precious Adams all enjoyed huge success in this Christmas favourite.
