Orchestre de Paris make long awaited return to the USA and Canada
11/12/2023
Orchestre de Paris will be spending March across the pond making their long awaited return to the USA and Canada with their Music Director Klaus Mäkelä. They begin their tour at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor on 14 March then moving on to New York’s Carnegie Hall on 16 March (which marks Klaus’ debut at the iconic venue), followed by Boston Symphony Hall on 17 March, before concluding the tour in Montreal at Place des Arts on 19 March. Yunchan Lim will be joining the orchestra on the tour, performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.2. The programme also includes Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faun, Stravinsky’s The Firebird and The Rite of Spring.
The tour follows the release earlier in 2023 of Stravinsky’s most iconic ballet scores on Decca, which represented Mäkelä’s first recording with his French orchestra, and will be followed by a further Ballets Russes release in 2024 featuring Stravinsky’s Petrushka and Debussy’s Jeux and L’Après-midi d’un faune.
