On 16 December Golda Schultz says a fond farewell to the role of Sophie in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier while marking her debut on the stage of Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Richard Strauss’ Sophie has been a pivotal role in Schultz’s career with early performances at Munchener Opernfestspiele and at Salzburger Festspiele establishing her firmly as a young artist destined for the great career she is now playing out. These final performances, in Andre Heller’s staging of the work, continue on 19, 22 and 27 December and 2 January and are conducted by Joana Mallwitz.
