HUDDERSFIELD CHORAL SOCIETY PREMIERES NEW CAROL BY BEN ROWARTH
1/12/2023
A new arrangement of O Little Town of Bethlehem by Ben Rowarth premieres on 8 December with Huddersfield Choral Society conducted by Greg Batsleer. Scored for double choir and organ, the work reimagines the well-known melody and words of the carol, pairing it with the text of Alfred Tennyson’s poem Ring Out, Wild Bells. The work was commissioned by the 200-strong choir for its annual Christmas concert at Huddersfield Town Hall, which sees them combine forces with local youth choirs and the Black Dyke Band.
