October's New Album Releases 2023

October marked the anticipated album release of Bach’s Goldberg Variations on Deutsche Grammophon, Víkingur Ólafsson commenting ​“I have dreamed of recording this work for 25 years”. Víkingur devotes his entire 2023/24 season to a Goldberg Variations world tour, performing the work across six continents throughout the year including London’s Southbank Centre, New York​’s Carnegie Hall, Philharmonie de Paris, Tokyo​’s Suntory Hall, LA’s Walt Disney Hall, Sala São Paulo, Shanghai Symphony Hall, amongst many others.

Sarah Aristidou​’s latest album Enigma explores the original sound, opening with Andreas Tsiartas’s Lamento Turco, exploring music by Wolf and Ravel, and ending with a work by Jörg Widmann for clarinet, soprano and piano founded on the vowels ​‘A’ and ​‘O’. Jörg plays the clarinet part for his own composition as well as in Schubert’s Hirt auf dem Felsen, with Daniel Arkadij Gerzenberg at the piano.
