Miina-Liisa Värelä makes her role and company debut this week as Leonore in Fidelio at the Canadian Opera Company, led by Music Director Johannes Debus. Matthew Ozawa directs this new production set in a modern-day prison facility. The premiere takes place on 29 September and performances continue on 1, 7, 12, 14, 18 and 20 October. 

Värelä continues her season in Vancouver, with concerts of Verdi’s Requiem with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, under Music Director Otto Tausk, to mark her debut with the orchestra on 3 – 4 November.
