Sarah Aristidou celebrates Ligati’s centenary at the George Enescu Festival

Sarah Aristidou joins Arnaud Arbet and George Enescu Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra for Ligeti’s Le grand macabre, celebrating the composer’s centenary this year. Sarah sings the joint roles Chief of Gepopo and Venus in this new French version of the opera, translated by Michel Vittoz and Arnaud Arbet. The concert performance takes place on 17 September at the Romanian Athenaeum.
This is Sarah’s first performance of the Ligeti opera this season and she goes with further performances at Wiener Staatsoper under Pablo Heras-Casado and director Jan Lauwers in November, and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in July 2024 under Kent Nagano and director Krysztof Warlikowski, as well as concert performances with Orchestre National de France under François-Xavier Roth at Radio France on 2 December.
