Tenor Paul Appleby in world premiere at La Monnaie
4/9/2023
Acclaimed American tenor Paul Appleby creates the role of Blake in his debut at La Monnaie/De Munt in world-premiere performances of Bernard Foccroulle’s mythological opera, Cassandra, set to a libretto in English by Matthew Jocelyn. Kazushi Ono conducts a powerfully evocative score in performances from 10 – 23 September.
Appleby’s 2023/24 operatic season also includes a return to Gran Teatre del Liceu, in the principal role of Caesar in the European premiere of John Adams’ Antony and Cleopatra and to Glyndebourne Festival Opera, reprising his much-loved Tamino in Die Zauberflöte under Constantin Trinks conducting the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
