JEAN RONDEAU PERFORMS POULENC IN ROTTERDAM
14/4/2023
Jean Rondeau joins Rotterdam Philharmonic and conductor Maxim Emelyanchev for multiple performances of Francis Poulenc’s Concert Champêtre for Harpsichord and Orchestra on 20, 21 and 23 April. These constitute the latest of several performances of the work by Rondeau this season following appearances with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Tapiola Sinfonietta, and Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse. A piece that alludes to the baroque while firmly rooted in 20th century neoclassicism, the Concert Champêtre plays right into the hands of Rondeau who has been repeatedly praised as one of the greatest champions of the harpsichord currently to be seen on the international stage.
