PIERRE-LAURENT AIMARD & JÖRG WIDMANN IN FREIBURG
24/3/2023
On 31 March, the artistic paths of Jörg Widmann and Pierre-Laurent Aimard intersect in Freiburg. Both musicians have been lauded as masters of contemporary repertoire, with Widmann winning accolades as a clarinettist, conductor and composer while Aimard remains one of the most sought-after pianists in the world. Following numerous collaborations over the years, both reunite at Freiburg’s Hochschule für Musik for a programme of works including Alban Berg’s Four pieces for clarinet and piano, selections from the ever-growing Játékok collections by György Kurtág, Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, the Grand Duo Concertant in E flat major by Carl Maria von Weber and Jörg Widmann’s own Fantasie für Klarinette solo.
Aimard and Widmann will also perform this programme in Antwerp on 4 May, with additional dates to follow later in the year.
