Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra return to the US

Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra return to the US this May for a programme celebrating composers from their homeland. Alongside Chief Conductor Susanna Mälkki and flute soloist Claire Chase, the orchestra will tour two of the most iconic venues in America — John F Kennedy Center on 8 May and Carnegie Hall on 9 May.
The orchestra have previously toured the US in 1968, 1983, 1986 and 2001. The programme for this tour includes Sibelius’ Lemminkäinen’s Return, Kaija Saariaho’s L’Aile du songe, Concerto for flute and orchestra before finishing with Sibelius’ Symphony No.2.
The promoter for the concert on 8 May at Kennedy Center is Washington Performing Arts.
