Bamberger Symphoniker, conducted by Chief Conductor Jakub Hrůša, head to Asia for a six-concert tour to some of the most prestigious venues in Taiwan and South Korea. This tour represents the first HarrisonParrott tour to Taiwan post COVID-19 pandemic.
The tour begins on 21 March in Taiwan at the National Theatre and Concert Hall in the capital Taipei, where violinist Ray Chen joins the orchestra for Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Bruckner’s Symphonic Prelude and Brahms’ Symphony No.3 complete the programme. This is followed by a second concert in the same venue on 22 March with a different programme featuring Bruch’s Violin Concerto No.1, Ligeti’s Poème symphonique, and Brahms’ Symphony No.4. From Taipei, they journey to Kaohsiung’s National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) on 25 March where the Bruckner and Mendelssohn works are completed by Dvořák’s sublime Symphony No.9.
From Kaohsiung, they head across the East China Sea to South Korea where they are joined by pianist Sunwook Kim with a new programme of Bruckner’s Symphonic Prelude, Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto and Dvořák’s Symphony No.8 or 9. The first concert takes place at Daegu Concert House on 28 March with Symphony No.9, followed by Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall on 29 March with Symphony No. 8, and the tour completes in Gyeonggi Arts Center on 30 March with Symphony No.9.
