HarrisonParrott signs trumpeter Matilda Lloyd
20/1/2023
HarrisonParrott is delighted to welcome 27-year-old British trumpeter Matilda Lloyd to its roster of artists for worldwide general management.
Mentored by Swedish trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger at the Malmö Academy of Music, Matilda captivates audiences with her artistry, communication and musicality. A passionate advocate for exploring new and forgotten avenues of repertoire, she performs favourites of the genre such as Haydn and Arutiunian alongside concertos by Desenclos and Pakhmutova. Multiple new commissions are also being planned including a new concerto by Robin Haigh for premiere in the 2024/25 season.
Highlights of the 2022/23 season include engagements with Pomeranian Philharmonic and Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker, Oulu Sinfonia and the Orchestre de l’Opéra Rouen as well as appearances at Cadogan Hall and St George’s Bristol with the Bath Festival Orchestra. Recital projects include programmes with organ and piano but also with Gesualdo Six exemplifying the relationship between trumpet and the human voice, and with Solus Trumpet Ensemble, which she founded.
April 2023 marks the release of Matilda’s debut album for Chandos Records entitled Casta Diva, showcasing Italian operatic arias in new arrangements for trumpet and orchestra, recorded with Britten Sinfonia and Rumon Gamba. Two other Chandos albums will be recorded in the next season.
BBC Young Musician of the Year Brass Final of 2014, Matilda made her BBC Proms debut two years later with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. One of London Mozart Players’ Education Ambassadors, music education and the wellbeing of musicians is very important to Matilda.
