Newly announced Music Director of the Gulbenkian Orchestra and chorus, Hannu Lintu makes his debut with New York Philharmonic, leading Daniil Trifonov and Sergei Babayan in Bartók’s extraordinary Concerto for two pianos and percussion. This is juxtaposed against contemplative and serene pictures of Finland in works by Finnish greats Sibelius and Saariaho in four performances running from 16 to 19 November at the David Geffen Hall. The performance opens with Stravinsky’s Symphonies of Wind Instruments in the 1947 version.
