Karita Mattila and John Daszak in new Salome at Opéra national de Paris

Karita Mattila makes her first appearance as Herodias alongside John Daszak returning to the role of Herodes in Lydia Steier’s new production of Salome for Opéra national de Paris. Performances run until 5 November 2022 conducted by Simone Young.
Mattila takes her new Herodias to the Canadian Opera Company later this season, under Johannes Debus; and makes a further anticipated debut as Strauss’ Klytämnestra (Elektra) under Sir Donald Runnicles at the Deutsche Opera, Berlin.
Daszak’s acclaimed Herodias was seen at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden earlier this season in David McVicar’s staging and under Alexander Soddy. Other highlights in the current season include in Elektra at both Bayerische Staatsoper under Vladimir Jurowski and Staatsoper Hamburg under Kent Nagano, and a return to the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Zinovy Ismailov in Calixto Bieito’s production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk conducted by Alejo Pérez.
