We are delighted to share the news that young German conductor Gabriel Venzago has just been appointed Music Director of Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz from 1 January 2023.
Heidelberg born Venzago is regarded as one of the outstanding conductors of his generation with excellent prospects. Supported by Germany’s ‘Dirigierforum’ and ‘Maestros of Tomorrow’, Venzago says, “I am very happy about my election as Music Director of Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz. I would like to embed our orchestra even deeper in the city, shape it artistically and explore or create new paths and spaces.” Orchestra Director Insa Pijanka says she is very much looking forward to working with the current First Kapellmeister and Deputy Music Director of Salzburg Landestheater on taking the orchestra into a bright future.
In 2021, Venzago attracted great attention directing Zaide. Eine Flucht, involving an integrative process with young refugees. Current highlights include a large scale production with NDR Radiophilharmonie [Hannover] and percussionists Martin Grubinger and The Percussive Planet Ensemble at Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, invitations from Münchner Philharmoniker and Sinfonieorchester Basel as well as a new production of La finta giardiniera at Salzburg Landestheater.
