On 22 June, Tan Dun makes his debut at the prestigious Istanbul Music Festival, who present him with their lifetime achievement award on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Festival.
He conducts the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra on a programme including Stravinsky’s Fireworks and Firebird Suite. They will also perform Tan Dun’s Passacaglia: Secret of Winds and Birds as well as his Double Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Orchestra with Percussion, which are both Turkish premieres. Following its world premiere in May 2021, Tan Dun is once again joined by Daniel Hope and Alexey Botvinov for the Double Concerto.
