Songs written by women, about women: Golda Schultz’s debut CD ​‘This Be Her Verse’ stands out for its illumination of female composers, highlighting their important contribution to the song repertoire. Released on Alpha Classics, ​“Her new album confirms her versatility and musical intelligence”, writes The Guardian, in which Schultz, alongside collaborative pianist Jonathan Ware, combine romantic and contemporary styles in a showcase of the female experience through time.

The programme opens with works of Clara Schumann and Emilie Mayer, leading through Rebecca Clarke’s take on classic texts of William Blake, a devotional selection from Nadia Boulanger, and closing with the titled new commission ​‘This Be Her Verse’ from composer Kathleen Tagg and poet-librettist Lila Palmer.
