We lament the passing of Joseph Kalichstein, eminent pianist and soloist after a long and distinguished career with a special affinity for chamber music both as a member for many decades of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson piano trio and in countless collaborations with musicians of the highest quality ranging over three generations

As a teacher, coach and mentor at Juilliard School for over 40 years his support for young musicians was legendary and this was further consolidated in his role since 1993 as Artistic Advisor for Chamber Music and Artistic Director of the Fortas Chamber Music Concerts at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Yossi was one of the very first artists to join HarrisonParrott after our launch in October 1969 and we are proud to have been associated with him as artist and friend ever since. His musical and personal integrity as well as his humour and kindness were a tonic and encouragement to all who knew him.
