Pene Pati signs to Warner Classics
26/11/2021
Samoan tenor Pene Pati is announced as an exclusive recording artist with Warner Classics. His debut album planned for release in spring 2022 takes the listener on a journey through French and Italian opera, from the ever-popular ‘La donna è mobile’ to uncovered gems of Meyerbeer and Godard, performed with Orchestre national Bordeaux Aquitaine and Emmanuel Villaume.
Alain Lanceron, President of Warner Classics and Erato, said of the signing: ‘Pene Pati is in the great tradition of lyric tenors. First and foremost, there is the beauty and warmth of his voice, which ascends with apparent ease to the proverbial top C, but there is also his elegance and style in both Italian and French opera – and his sunny, expansive personality, which wins the public’s heart as soon as he walks on stage. Pene has embarked on a tremendous career, and all of us at Warner Classics are looking forward to working with him for many years.’
Kicking off the new season with a highly successful debut at Opéra national de Paris as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Pati enjoys further debuts this season at Wiener Staatsoper as Riccardo Percy (Anna Bolena), both Staatsoper Berlin and Dutch National Opera as Alfredo (La traviata), Teatro San Carlo di Napoli as Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), and San Diego Opera as Roméo (Roméo et Juliette).
