On 28 November, Sleepless, the new opera by Peter Eötvös, is premiered by the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. Based on Jon Fosse’s Triology, this is an opera in two acts with libretto by Maria Mezei and direction from Kornél Mundruczó. The story follows snapshots of the struggles of a young couple in Bergen, Norway, with Victoria Randem and Linard Vrielink in the lead roles as Alida and Asle. Eötvös conducts the premiere and performances on 1 and 3 December; Maxime Pascal conducts the remaining performances on 7, 9 and 16 December. 

Sleepless is a co-commission with Grand Théâtre de Genève, where the work will see its Swiss première in early 2022.
