Continuing his close connection to Leipzig’s Gewandhaus and following his appointment as first Gewanhaus-Composer in the 2017/18 season, this week sees the world premiere of Jörg Widmann​’s new trumpet concerto Towards Paradise (Labyrinth VI), commissioned by Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Boston Symphony Orchestra. The world premiere is performed by Håkan Hardenberger and conducted by Andris Nelsons, further performances follow on 24 and 26 September. The piece will see its US premiere later this year, on 18 November, followed by performances on 19 and 20 November.
