HARRISONPARROTT ARTISTS FEATURE IN “SPOTLIGHT ON…” SERIES
17/5/2021
Jess Gillam and Leia Zhu feature this year in the London Mozart Players concert series “Spotlight On…”. A long-standing tradition, which has in the past included artists such as Jacqueline du Pré and Nicola Benedetti, the series showcases brilliant young soloists at the start of their careers.
Postponed from last summer, Jess Gillam performs two concerts in the same day – to accommodate for social distancing – on 24 June at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, which is the first concert of a larger tour, to be continued in 2022. She presents Glazunov’s Concerto in E flat and Michael Nyman’s saxophone concerto, Where the Bee Dances, under the direction of Jonathan Bloxham, and tickets are on sale now via the Fairfield Halls website.
The series concludes later this year with Leia Zhu performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, on 9 October also at Fairfield Halls, with Gerard Korsten as conductor. Tickets for this concert are also on sale via the Fairfield Halls website. Zhu already plays regularly with the orchestra and joins them this year and the next for other concerts in and around London, and in local schools, as part of the orchestra’s community outreach and educational programmes.
You can watch the trailer for the series on YouTube. The “Spotlight On…” series concerts will also be available to view online for a limited period via the London Mozart Players website.
