Kent Nagano continues the 2020/21 season in Hamburg

Kent Nagano conducts the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester this weekend in the first Philharmonic concerts of the new season. The concerts on 27 and 28 September feature two programmes including Hindemith Chamber Symphony, Schubert Symphony No.5 and Mahler Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with tenor Julian Prégardien and Ligeti Hamburg Concerto with soloist Marie-Luise Neunecker. Special Concerts in the coming weeks include the collaboration with pianist Paul Lewis on 3 and 4 October followed by the Beethoven Concert with soprano Pretty Yende on 9 October.
Nagano opened the season earlier this month at Staatsoper Hamburg with ‘Molto Agitato’, a new production featuring the sounds of Ligeti, Brahms, Handel and Weill. The final performance of this production will be on 26 September. An upcoming highlight of the season is the production of Pierrot lunaire (Schönberg) / La voix humaine (Poulenc) which premieres on 11 October.
