Alban Gerhardt performs a lunchtime recital with Markus Becker on 14 September at Wigmore Hall. The concert will be played in front of a very small audience (Friends of Wigmore chosen within a ticket ballot) and streamed live for free on the Wigmore Hall website as well as broadcast on BBC Radio 3 live at 1pm UK time. Programme of the concert includes Shostakovich Cello Sonata in D minor Op. 40, Schumann Adagio and Allegro and Beethoven Cello Sonata in D Op.102 No 2.

Gerhardt returns to London after a busy performance week in Berlin. He played a concert with his quintet (Baiba Skride, Gergana Gergova, Brett Dean and Micha Afkham) at Radialsystem. The so called, Sneak Preview Concert on 12 September was a taster for the Experimental Concert Research, a study investigating concert experiences of the audience, that is going to be pursued and published in 2022. The Quintet performs works by Beethoven and Brett Dean.
