With international travel restrictions still in place, Vikingur Ólafsson is unable to visit Bergen as originally planned. In order for the performance to go ahead, Ólafsson will instead perform the solo part from his home city, Reykjavik. The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Edward Gardner, will then perform their parts almost 1000 miles away in the Norwegian city’s concert hall, Grieghallen. 

Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor is the festival’s signature work and has been performed almost every year since its inception in 1953.
