PIERRE BLEUSE APPOINTED CHIEF CONDUCTOR OF ODENSE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FROM 2021/22 SEASON

The Odense Symphony Orchestra announces the appointment of French conductor Pierre Bleuse as Chief Conductor with an initial three-year contract beginning in 2021/22, succeeding Alexander Vedernikov.
Upon the appointment, Finn Schumacker, Artistic Director of the Odense Symphony Orchestra said: “It is with great expectation that we welcome Pierre Bleuse as Chief Conductor as we celebrate the orchestra’s 75th anniversary, as this makes the celebration not only looking back, but also underlines the fact that Odense Symphony Orchestra is keen to contribute to promoting the agenda for symphonic music and its relevance to contemporary audiences. With his great commitment to the future generation of composers, musicians and audiences, Pierre Bleuse will also make his mark on the Orchestra’s efforts for children and young people and our collaboration with educational institutions.”
Pierre Bleuse is looking forward to his new position as Chief Conductor in both an Orchestra and city he knows well : “It is with great pleasure and honour that I accept the position of Chief Conductor of the Odense Symphony Orchestra. This Orchestra, created in 1946 in the town of Andersen, also renowned for the creation of the Nielsen competition, is a major asset for the cultural life of Odense and more generally for Danish artistic life. I wish to devote myself to this new position by giving one hundred percent of my energy to the serve the musicians of this magnificent Orchestra, to share with them my vision of music and reflect on the role of music in our modern society.”
Already in the coming season, Pierre Bleuse will lead the Odense Symphony Orchestra conducting Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in the instrumentation of Maurice Ravel, whose piano concerto in G major is performed with Jean-Efflam Bavouzet at the grand piano.
Pierre Bleuse’s appointment follows his recent and upcoming invitations with prestigious orchestras such as Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Russian National Orchestra, among many others.
