LES SIÈCLES DEBUT IN MOSCOW WITH FRANÇOIS-XAVIER ROTH AND ALICE SARA OTT
9/12/2019
Les Siècles debut in Moscow on 21 December at the stunning Zaryadye Concert Hall which opened last year. François-Xavier Roth, their founder and artistic director, conducts a programme from the French romantic composer Berlioz, including the Overture from Les Francs-Juges and widely known as his most significant and prominent work, Symphonie Fantastique. One of todays most in-demand classical pianists, Alice Sara Ott joins Les Siècles as soloist for the concert performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3.
Ott keeps herself busy across the 2019/20 season having recently debuted with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Santtu-Matias Rouvali, performs as artist-in-residence at China’s National Centre for the Performing Arts and continues her international recital tour across Europe and China of Nightfall, her latest album on Deutsche Grammophon.
The Orchestra, who were recently nominated for the 2018 Gramphone Orchestra of the Year Award and who are known to perform their programmes on period instruments, have recently released their latest recording, commemorating the 150th anniversary of Berlioz’ death, which includes Harold en Italie (Tabea Zimmermann) and Les nuits d’été (Stéphane Degout). It was Sunday Times Album of the Week and acclaimed by Dutch newspaper Trouw as “already one of the best CDs of the year”.
