30/9/2019
We are delighted to announce that the young Estonian soprano Mirjam Mesak joins the HP roster from the 19/20 season as she enters her second year as a member of the prestigious Bayerische Staatsoper Opernstudio.
Mirjam can be seen on the main stage in Munich imminently in Krzysztof Warlikowski’s production of Salome and a new production of Die tote Stadt, both under Kirill Petrenko. Revivals of Richard Jones’ Hänsel und Gretel under Patrick Lange follow as the Dew Fairy and in Calixto Bieito’s production of Boris Godunov she sings Xenia under Vladimir Jurowski. She takes on the title role in a new production of Mignon under Pierre Dumoussaud and features in a new production by Carlus Padrissa — La Fura dels Baus of Karl V conducted by Erik Nielsen with whom she reunites when she joins Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in December.
Her portrayal of the title-role of Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta conducted by Alevtina Ioffe at the Cuvilliés Theater delighted audiences last season and is due to be released on DVD.
