For the National Day of Russia president Vladimir Putin held the state award ceremony in Kremlin. He has personally recognised 11 laureates who have made a great impact on the cultural and scientific development of the country. This year Nikolai Lugansky was honoured with the highest sign of recognition for his contribution to society.

The award only recognises people who have significantly contributed to the support of high moral values and unity of Russian society.
