Constantinos Carydis debuts with Berliner Philharmoniker
12/6/2019
Admired for his radical and exciting interpretations, Constantinos Carydis has moved the hearts of the Dresden Musikfestspiele audience with an incredible rendition of Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique on period instruments – performed by the excellent Dresdner Festspielorchester.
This week he debuts with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Concerts take place at Berlin Philharmonie on 13, 14 and 15 June. Promising a wide expressive range, the programme is framed by Mozart’s Symphonies No.34 and 38, in which tonal radiance is combined with delicate expressive nuances, alongside works by Dmitri Shostakovich, including his Chamber Symphony op. 110a, which sensitively and movingly reflects the horror of war. On 16 June the Orchestra and Carydis will head to Switzerland to open the fantastic new concert hall in Andermatt.
